Brilliant with the Basics: Part 4-Report Writing (4 CPEs)

Brilliant with the Basics Series

In our Being Brilliant with the Basics series, we revisit the fundamentals every auditor needs with a new perspective for auditing in 2021.  Seasoned professionals and those new to audit can all benefit from being brilliant with these fundamentals.

Brilliant with the Basics – Report Writing

Report writing is hard! For many auditors it is their least favorite part of the job.  That is because most of us go about it all wrong.  We have bad habits instilled in us from our writing in college that prevent us from communicating effectively.

Well-written audit reports can be the difference between an audit group that is perceived as adding value and one that merely exists as required compliance. Unfortunately, many audit reports are too long, too boring, and don’t provide the reader what they really want.

This session will address the challenges commonly associated with audit report writing and teach the skills that will ensure your audit reports will be read and your message received as intended

You will learn:

  • Learn why professional writing is different from academic writing
  • Understand the real goals and purpose of an audit report
  • Identify ways to create an effective report that evokes positive change
