Obstacles faced by ambitious women in Corporate America have lessened in the past few decades, but they certainly have not disappeared. The degree to which being a woman positively or negatively affects one’s ability to advance her career, and her perceived ability to lead, varies greatly from situation to situation. However, we frequently face similar challenges: the perception that we are more emotional, our desire to prove ourselves, and yet conversely, our frequent inability to self-promote. These can all negatively impact how we see ourselves, how we respond to situations, and ultimately how others perceive us. But these are issues that we can prepare for and become the leader we want to be.
This humorous but insightful session will look at the things we can all do to improve confidence, communication, and credibility while sometimes dealing with uniquely ‘female’ situations. The stories, examples, and approaches are all based on methods used in real-life situations climbing the ladder to the C-Suite.
While this is a female-forward talk, it will have valuable career advice for all.
